A frameless shower door is the cleanest, most modern look you can put in a bathroom — thick tempered glass, minimal hardware, and no metal frame to collect grime or block the view of your tile. Prime Glass has been custom-measuring and installing frameless glass across Southwest Florida since 1991, and it remains the single most requested upgrade we build for homeowners between Venice and Sarasota.

Unlike a pre-fab door ordered from a big-box store, every frameless door we install is measured on-site and cut specifically for your opening. No shower is perfectly square — walls settle, tile thickness varies, and a stock size will always leave a gap somewhere. Custom measurement means the glass fits your actual bathroom, not an average one.

Why Homeowners Choose Frameless

Configuration Options

Swing (hinged) doors — the most common configuration, typically paired with one or two fixed side panels depending on your shower’s shape.

Sliding (bypass) frameless doors — a good fit for tub-to-shower conversions or tight footprints where a swing door doesn’t have room to open.

Neo-angle and corner configurations — for corner showers, using angled glass panels to maximize space.

Glass, Hardware, and Thickness Options

Glass thickness: We install 3/8″ (10mm) tempered glass for most standard frameless doors, and 1/2″ (12mm) for larger openings or a heavier, more substantial feel. Thicker glass costs more but holds its shape better on wide spans.

Glass type: Standard clear tempered glass is the most popular choice. Low-iron (“ultra-clear”) glass removes the slight green tint you get with standard glass and is popular for showcasing colorful tile. Frosted, textured, and fluted glass are also available for homeowners who want privacy or texture without sacrificing the frameless look.

Hardware finishes: Chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, and brushed brass/gold are our most requested finishes. Hardware finish should generally match your faucet and shower valve trim for a cohesive look — we’ll talk through this during your free estimate.

Protective coatings: An optional hydrophobic glass coating (similar to a windshield treatment) helps water bead off the glass and cuts down significantly on the mineral spots and soap scum that build up in Florida’s hard water.

Our Process

  1. Free in-home measure. We come to your home, measure the exact opening, and talk through glass, hardware, and configuration.
  2. Custom cut. Your glass is fabricated specifically for your bathroom.
  3. Install. Usually completed in a single visit. Total time from measure to install typically runs 2–3 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a frameless shower door cost?

Every project is custom, so here’s how pricing works: call (941) 488-0263 with your rough measurements and we’ll quote you a price based on your dimensions — free, right over the phone. If you like the number, a 50% deposit gets you on the schedule and we come out to take the official measurements. If ours differ from yours the price adjusts slightly, but careful measurements mean the final price lands very close to your original quote.

Will a frameless door leak more than a framed one?

No — properly installed frameless doors seal just as well as framed doors. The difference is in appearance and cleaning, not water containment, as long as the installation and seals are done correctly.

How do I clean a frameless shower door?

A squeegee after each use and a periodic wipe-down with a non-abrasive glass cleaner is usually enough. A hydrophobic coating, applied at installation, meaningfully reduces the effort required.

Can you match my existing hardware finish?

In most cases, yes. We carry a range of standard finishes and will help you match or complement your existing faucet and shower valve trim during your free estimate.
