One of the most common questions we get from homeowners in Venice and across Southwest Florida is some version of: “How long is this going to take?”
It’s a completely reasonable thing to want to know. You’re planning a bathroom renovation, you have a life to manage, and you want to understand what you’re actually signing up for before you pick up the phone. So here’s the honest, step-by-step answer.
Step 1: The Initial Call (Same Day or Next Business Day)
Everything starts with a conversation. When you call Prime Glass, we ask a few basic questions about your project — what type of enclosure you’re looking at, whether you’re in Venice, Sarasota, Englewood, or somewhere else in our service area, and what your rough timeline looks like.
We’re a local, employee-owned company, which means you’re talking to someone who actually works here — not a call center. That first conversation usually takes about 10 minutes and gives us both enough to decide whether a measurement visit makes sense.
Step 2: The Measurement Visit (Usually Within a Few Days)
Next, one of our team members comes to your home to take precise measurements of your shower opening. This visit typically takes 30–60 minutes.
Shower enclosures — especially frameless ones — are custom fabricated to fit your exact space. No two bathrooms are quite the same, and even small variations in tile work, wall angle, or floor level affect how the glass is cut and how the hardware is positioned. Getting the measurements right at this stage is what ensures the installation goes smoothly later.
We’ll also walk through the design options with you during this visit: glass thickness, hardware finishes, door swing direction, any special requests. It’s a good time to ask questions.
Step 3: Fabrication (Typically 1–2 Weeks)
After the measurement visit, we order and fabricate your glass. This is where Prime Glass has a real advantage: we handle custom fabrication in-house, which means we’re not waiting on a distant manufacturer or an uncertain supply chain. We control the timeline.
For most standard frameless shower enclosures in our area, fabrication takes approximately one to two weeks. More complex or custom projects — like large frameless enclosures with specialty glass or unique hardware — can take a bit longer, and we’ll be upfront with you about that from the start.
During this time, you don’t need to do anything. We’ll be in touch when your glass is ready.
Step 4: Installation Day (2–4 Hours)
Installation day is the satisfying part. For a typical frameless shower enclosure, the actual installation takes 2 to 4 hours from start to finish.
Our installers arrive, protect your floors, and get to work. Because everything has been custom fabricated to your exact measurements, the pieces fit the way they’re supposed to. There’s no cutting corners on-site, no guesswork. By the time they pack up, your new enclosure is in place and ready to use.
We clean up after ourselves — that’s just how we work.
Step 5: The Cure Period (24–48 Hours Before Use)
After installation, we ask homeowners to wait 24 to 48 hours before using the shower. This gives the silicone sealant time to fully cure and bond properly. Rushing this step is the most common reason for early seal failures, so we’re firm about it.
After that window, you’re good to go.
So What’s the Full Timeline?
From your first call to stepping into your new shower, most projects run 2 to 3 weeks in total. Here’s a quick summary:
- Initial call: Same day or next business day
- Measurement visit: Within a few days of your call
- Fabrication: Approximately 1–2 weeks
- Installation: 2–4 hours on-site
- Cure time before use: 24–48 hours
That’s it. No months-long wait, no mystery. A well-run process from a team that’s done this across Venice, Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, and beyond.
Why It’s Worth Planning Ahead
If you’re working around a renovation schedule, a move-in date, or a special occasion, the best thing you can do is call us a few weeks out. That gives us room to work without rushing anything, and it gives you peace of mind knowing the timeline is in good shape.
